One of the most timeless outfits that are worn by everyone once a year in one season is Jackets. They make quite a fashion statement that has been leaving an impact on the people. Be it an elegant Megan Markel look with a trench coat or a badass Rihanna look with a leather jacket, Jacket makes both happen. The jackets are not just a garment but it is also often used as an accessory in an outfit the way it’s worn. And not to forget that the jackets keep you warm during the winter. All these things and many more, make the jacket wardrobe essential.

So, when the short clothes are enclosing themselves in the closet, it is the season for jackets to reappear and take over the world. If you’re still not convinced why one should opt for jackets, here is another reason. You can repeat an outfit by giving it a completely new look by topping it with a jacket or a coat. Or if you have already worn it with one jacket, one can always change the jacket for the new look. With tons of jackets available in the market and in the fashion industry, all one needs to do is take a pick which jacket goes best with the outfit and look great while going out. Here are a few jackets that we think are essential for women’s wardrobe:

Bomber Jacket 

The bomber jacket has been the go-to jacket for most people for a very long time. How long you ask? The jacket has been around since the Second World War; A less known fact, about the most famous jacket of all time. The evergreen jacket can be dated back to the eighteenth century, which makes it classic and dashing.

The Bomber jacket was originally worn as a military jacket by the soldiers of Hungarian Cavalry in the American Civil war. The uniform was topped with the jacket, where the fabric of the jacket made the camouflage uniform heavy. Later the jacket caught the designer’s attention and was brought in the fashion industry in 1924, where it became a revolution piece. Later the French designer, Coco Chanel created the woman’s version of the jacket fashion.

Now the bomber jackets are worn with the plain white shirt and ripped jeans giving a rugged look to a person. The girls have often seen them wearing over the skirts and dresses as well.

Leather Jacket

For much edger look, most women and men opt for leather jackets since they are a perfect fit for casual outfit or parties. One just needs to pair a leather jacket with the appropriate clothes. The leather jacket works in a plethora of options, for casual, one can pair it with a classic white T-shirt and blue jeans and boots, or with a printed top and heels. Much like the bomber jacket, the leather jacket also has a rich history.

The jacket was worn by German pilots during World War I. The leather jacket was brought into attention by the Harley-Davidson when the rose was embedded or printed behind the jacket gained popularity. Later in 1928, a designer named Irving Schott converted the leather jacket into a motorcycle jacket. One would only find the leather jacket via a Harley-Davidson distributor for the cost of 5.50 dollars. Further, in the 1940s, the leather jacket became a symbol statement of army men in the United States.

It wasn’t till the 1950s, the fashion crossed the gender boundaries and was embraced by females. In 1954, the leather jacket was titled as ‘Ladies companion jacket’ in Accessories Catalog. The gender bias of the jacket came to an end and was accepted by people worldwide.

Denim Jacket

The denim is probably one of the most versatile fabric. Jeans, shirts, jackets, shorts, skirts, you name it, and denim has made a mark. Add denim to any mix of outfits be it casual or partywear, denim makes everything better. Denim goes great with any sort of bottoms, jeans, shorts, skirts, and any type pf upper wear like plain simple Tee, crop tops, printed dresses, plain dresses, etc. Demin jackets also hide your curves or flaunt them as per body type. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that denim is versatile.

Naturally, there is a long history attached to denim and a few famous and evergreen names too. The Denim jackets started as a revolution by rebels, or how it was associated with, in the 50s even though they were initially worn by the US military. Later in the 60s, the jacket was infamously worn by hippies and punks in the 70s.

The epidemic of denim jackets spread across the world when famous personalities like James Dean, Elvis Presley, and Marilyn Monore wore the jacket. The features like durability and versatility of the denim jacket were recognized by the masses only after recognized people wore it, confirming people that it was worth a dry. Since then, the jacket has been evergreen and unstoppable in the fashion industry.

Hoodie 

Women often wearing the hoodies look younger and sporty. The hoodie jacket can be worn on multiple occasions like casual getaway and meetings and sporting events. They are known to be light and comfortable and can be worn over casual T-shirts and jeans or leggings.

The origin of hoodies can be dated back to 1919 when Knickerbocker Knitting Company launched it and called it Champions product. Though at first, the hoodies were sweatshirt with a hood, they later came as jackets with zippers and no hassle. Initially, the hoodie jackets for women were differentiated by the colors. The women’s jackets came in warm colors like baby pink, sunny yellow, etc. Now the gender biases have been eliminated from the concept. The only difference now stays in the fashion industry is that of size.

The trendy jackets are perfect for the outdoors and meeting someone. The quilt jackets aren’t plain and come in vibrant colors. The name of the jacket comes from the pattern stitched on it. Quilting is basically any run or type of stitches that combines two layers of cloth, which essentially makes it warm and perfect winter wear. In jackets, the pattern formed is that of a diamond shape. This pattern can be traced back to the 12th Century in England.

In the start, quilting was only used for bed covers that kept people warm and light in weight. Often times it was used under the soldier’s armor as well to make the metal wearable. The jacket we wear today was invented by a couple from Pennsylvania in 1965. Steve Guylas and Edna together started the business at their lowest, after Steve retired from the US Air Force with eye disease in 1960.

After moving to England and starting the business, their work was recognized by the royal family and brought to attention. Soon after, there was no stopping the quilt jackets. Now, it is a must in women’s wardrobes.

Puffer Jacket

Puffer jackets are worn by women, mostly with the idea to hide their weight. The light material of the jacket is easy to carry and comes in various colors and lengths. Some puffer jackets are short to the waist, while the others are long till the knees. But mainly, the puffer jackets are one of the best jackets to protect you from the winters and the cool breeze.

The first puffer jacket was invested by  Eddie Bauer in 1936. It was called Skyliner back then as it encased feather in between the quilted material. When proved that the jacket does protect from the harsh winters, in 1940 the jacket was patented and entered the fashion industry. A designer named Charles James improvised the jacket in the 1980s, which now has been adopted by various designers who are globally recognized. The jacket has become a must winter trend.

Linen Jacket 

While most jackets are worn in winters, here is something cooler for the summers winters The linen jackets are specially designed to be worn in the scorching summer heat, as they are made of light fabric and are comfortable to wear. Ladieswear it to formal events, and often times it is paired with a contrasting color t-shirt, shorts, and heels for parties. It creates the look that makes them stand out of the crowd,

Linen’s history can be mapped back to the 19th century when the linen fabric was expensive and light in weight. Which naturally were obstructs in making linen a trend.  During world war 2, the material gained popularity and has been a trend ever since. As the trend caught up, it got popular with famous personalities rather quickly because it was one of the most comfortable cloth to wear.
