Onyx is a very valuable variety of chalcedony found in black and white, green, or just white. They can be found practically all over the world, although they are very rare rocks, so they are a real treat for collectors. They are also used in the jewelry industry.

Currently, miniature sculptures and intaglios, i.e. flat reliefs made of precious stones, are made of onyx. Onyx of a slightly different caliber is used for construction purposes. In this case, under the name onyx, there are laminated limestone rocks built, practically only of transparent sprite (aragonite or calcite), without significant admixtures of granular components. Thanks to this, you can achieve slightly lower costs of this rare material, although it is still an extremely valuable material.

Among the many advantages that onyx can boast of is its light transmission, which can be properly used during interior finishing works. In addition, it is a material with a high aesthetic level in itself, so any decorative elements made of this stone will always attract attention and give an unusual final effect in the space in which they will be located.

As a curiosity, it can be added here that it was onyx that the personal seal of the emperor of China was made of, and his subjects, under the penalty of death, were forbidden to use the same stone in any case, which probably clearly shows how great value must have been in ancient times.
